The light was overpowering, it penetrated the darkness as though nothing was there. Such an unpleasant pleasant feeling, light, after having seemingly aeons of darkness. The darkness was so inviting, it could cover up anything and make it as though nothing had happened. But the light, it brought pain and brought forth any unpaid for deeds, like an unforgiving sheriff let loose on a wanted criminal.
Then the light dimmed, objects came into sharp focus and a fierce pounding sensation was felt all over. A sigh was let loose, the released air became visible as frost nipped at every open orifice. Thoughts suddenly burst through, recollections of a recent dream, tangs of regret at prior actions and a deep fear. The fear was most powerful, it encompassed everything and eventually held a firm grasp over all other emotions. But the mind couldn't place why it was fearful, although suddenly the earth started to shake violently.
The mind thought for a moment, was it the earth? A quick look down confirmed that it wasn't, it was forelegs and hind legs trembling violently. The question came to mind, but why? Fragments of past memories came to mind, but nothing tangible could be realized from them. Then, like a bolt of lightning the mind knew where the answer laid, it forced its body to look over. A bloodied corpse greeted it, no, not just a corpse, a pack mate. The memories of the past day flooded through its mind; what had he done?
